SCHOLARSHIPS

The West Vancouver Community Foundation Scholarship Funds provide assistance and encouragement to promising young students challenged by the costs of education. The funds are paid directly to the students educational institution. The below Scholarships are available for application.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 31, 2018, 12PM.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please submit the Scholarship application form and supplemental documents in one (1) PDF Document ONLY and email to: info@westvanfoundation.com for the attention of the Scholarship Committee. All applications will receive an acknowledgement of receipt email.

Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria, are incomplete or are received after the deadline date will not be accepted. The Scholarship Committee along with Scholarship Fund Holders review applications and inform the recipients schools directly. Scholarship recipients are presented with a congratulatory letter at their respective commencement ceremony detailing how to claim the scholarship.

2018 SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS OFFERED

2018 Bradley T. Bowles Scholarship - $1,000 (awarded to a student who possesses the character and qualities exemplified by Brad Bowles: enthusiasm and school spirit, superior athlectic and academic effort, camaraderie and sportsmanship. This scholarship is awared to a West Vancouver Secondary student only who resides in West Vancouver and is enrolling in a post-secondary institution in BC). Download Application.

2018 British Pacific Properties Limited Scholarship - $750 (two $750 scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who have demonstrated leadership qualities through community service, have developed skills in a range of area and will be enrolling in Science or Engineering at a university in BC. Preference is given to students who reside in the British Properties). Download Application.

2018 Christina Lawson Scholarship in Music/Drama - $1,000 (awarded to a student who has demonstrated involvement in music and/or drama pursuits and is committed to including music and/or drama as part of their career plan. Students must also show evidence of community service and have a high academic standing. Financial need of the recipient will also be considered. This scholarship is awarded to a student residing in West Vancouver and who is enrolling in a post-secondary institution in Canada or the United States, preference given to students enrolling in a Canadian institution). 2018 Faris Family Scholarship - $1,500 a year for 4 years, total of $6000, upon maintaining a minimum of an 76% grade point average. (awarded to an outstanding academic student who has demonstrated community service and will be enrolling in Humanities or Social Services at a university in BC. This scholarship is awarded to a student who resides in West Vancouver and who has a minimum average of 86% while enrolled in their final year of high school. Applicants must submit a typed essay (not exceeding 500 words), describing why you have chosen your course of study and outlining your career aspirations along with also being available for an interview with the Faris Family, if selected as a candidate). 2018 Gertrude Lawson Scholarship in Education - $1,000 (awaded to a student who intends to pursue studies in education, has evidence of community service and will be enrolling in a post-secondary institution in BC. This scholarship is awarded to a student residing in West Vancouver. Financial need will also be considered). Download Application.

2018 Jerry Beckerman Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 (awarded to a student graduating from a public secondary school in West Vancouver School District and proceeding to a post-secondary degree program in Canada. This scholarship is awared to a student who has a strong academic record, shows evidence of leadership and volunteerism in school and/or community service and who has demonstrated dedication and achievement within the field of sport or the visual and performing arts. All applicants must submmit an essay of no more than 500 words describing the most significant experiences that have contributed to your goals for the future). Download Application.

2018 Trajan Martin Memorial Award - $1,000 (awarded to a student from the North Shore who demonstrates compassion, adventure, integrity and exuberance for life. This Scholarship is awarded to an applicant between the ages of 16 and 25. All applicants must include a typed 500 word essay explaining how they meet the criteria.
